I have had a wonderful time so far getting to know the class! It is a class full of bright energetic students and I am grateful to be a part (if small) of their lives. Thank you for welcoming me so kindly.

Muffins With Mom

Time to Check the Cubbies!

It’s that time again for the weather to start changing. Please check your child’s cubby and make sure they have an extra outfit that will be weather appropriate in case an accident should happen. Also, mud boots and a light jacket for in the morning would be a great thing to have.

REMINDERS:

Muffins with Mom

Families please join us for a Mother’s Day celebration “Muffins with Mom” on Friday, May 11^th from 7:00am-9:00am. I just want to wish all our mothers a Happy Mother’s Day in advance and thank you for everything you do!

Parent/Teacher Conferences 

We will be holding parent/teacher conferences May 16^th and 17th. These conferences are a great way to see what your child has been working on, and also provides an opportunity to communicate with the teacher. Please look for a sign-up sheet on our door, and if you need a different time please let us know.

Spring is Here!

We are enjoying the warm weather!  Please remember that we go outside every day possible. Please remember to put sunscreen on your child before you bring them to school as this helps us get outside sooner in the mornings. We will apply sunscreen again after naptime.

Many of us were able to meet our Bunny and get a picture with him! It has been so much fun to explore and learn outside! So many friends are starting to sit on their own! All of our babies love exploring and watching our friends play!

Babies love to go outside and learn about the world around them. We would appreciate it, if you could bring a jacket and sunhat for them!

April was a month with a lot of cool and rainy days when the Pixies enjoyed reading and singing inside. On the sunny and warm days we went outside to walk and ride in the stroller. While we were out, we took time to stop and smell the flowers and trees that were in bloom. The Pixies used all of their senses to experience spring. The week of the young child was filled with fun activities that kept us busy.

Coming in May

This month we will be exploring more sensory activities both indoors and outdoors. As the weather begins to warm we will have water and sand play outside. We will also provide sensory experiences for children with food and textures, such as Jell-O, pudding, cooked spaghetti noodles, shredded paper, fabric pieces and more. These different types of sensory activities allow for the use of senses, such as, touch, taste, and smell. They also allow for fine motor development as children develop and refine the use of their fingers, wrists, and tongue.

We look forward to introducing new books to children that have the “touch and feel” components, such as soft fur on a dog, or rough textures on grass. The Pixies really enjoy these types of books, and it will be a great way to incorporate literacy and sensory experiences. We look forward to a great month in the Pixies room!

April has been a busy month with the introduction of water play days and our various outdoor activities. We learned about Spring life from Spring showers to animals and plants.  We also explored patterns, learning that a pattern is “something that happens over and over again”.   The children enjoyed exploring transportation on land, in the water, and in the air as well as the colors found in our world.  Lastly, we have continued learning our letters and numbers while practicing writing them.

Parent Communication

Please be sure to check your child’s folder daily, which is located beside our classroom door.  We place any written communication such as newsletters as well as your child’s artwork in this folder.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

The Lords and Ladies class will be holding parent-teacher conferences Monday, May 7^th, and Tuesday, May 8^th.  Please anticipate the conference lasting about 15 minutes.  As conferences will be held during the children’s naptime, we will be meeting in the Dukes and Duchesses room located to the right of the front desk.  I look forward to being able to spend time with each of you to share what your child has been learning throughout the year!

Sunny Days

With the change in the season, we would like to ensure that your child is protected during our outdoor play.  Please remember to apply sunscreen to your child every morning before arriving at school.  We will be sure to reapply sunscreen following naptime for our afternoon outdoor playtime.  In addition, please be sure your child has a bottle of sunscreen at school.  We look forward to spending many more days enjoying and exploring nature!

In April we had fun kicking off the spring season with great weather, a Spring Party and Egg Hunt! Thank you to everyone who provided snacks for our party! We also celebrated The Week of the Young Child with many exciting activities each day.

Coming in May:

May is going to be a month full of transitions, as we have four friends who will be moving up to the Jesters class as well as some Pixie friends moving to our class! We would like to welcome Clara, Logan, and Zara to our class! This month we will work on getting to know each other and talking about friends as we meet our new classmates! Muffins With Moms will be on Friday May 11^th from 7:00 to 9:00. Enjoy a muffin with your child at drop-off. Happy Mother’s Day!

A time of busy excitement- wrapping up a wonderful school year, preparing for summer activities and excursions and enjoying the great outdoors.

A time of exploring nature’s treasures- gathering flowers to make May day baskets, walking barefoot through the green grass ,flying  kites, and collecting insects and butterflies.
