Pixies Newsletter South: May 2014

Dear Pixies’ parents,

We are so glad to be enjoying the warmer weather.  Playing out on the playground and going on stroller rides is a joy for the children.  Just as a reminder, the mats on our concrete pad give off a color that can stain the children’s clothes.  You are welcome to bring in an extra old pair of pants that we can slip over their good pants.  You may also want to bring in a sun hat for your child.

Dates to remember:

11th Mother’s Day

13th and 14th Parent/teacher conferences

26th Memorial Day/Academy is closed

We are happy to welcome Haley to our class!  She graduated from the Sprites. We are sad to say goodbye to Parker but know he will have a great time with his new friends in the Pages!

The Week of the Young Child was a success again this year!  Even though our class may be a little young to know what is going on, they still enjoy some of the activities.  The egg hunt was fun and we thank all of the parents who contributed eggs and goodies to go inside the eggs.  Not so sure the big bunny was a hit with our class!!

Thanks again for all that you do as parents!  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions or concerns about anything.

Audrey, Staci, Catherine and Emily

Pixies Newsletter South: April 2014

Welcome to April!  We are looking forward to warmer weather!  Just another reminder about our mats outside: they give off a residue that will stain clothes, so if you would like to bring an extra old pair of pants to slip on over your child’s good ones, we can do that.

Dear Pixies’ parents,

We are hoping that Spring will be soon be here!!  We are so ready to be outside on the playground and taking stroller rides.  As a reminder, when we go on our playground, the mats, if wet or damp, will stain the children’s clothes.  Please, if you would like to send extra pants to put over top of your child’s good clothes, do so.  We know if their good clothes get color on them from the mats, it will not come out.

Dear Pixies’ parents,

Fall is upon us and with it comes cooler weather and many holidays!  We look forward to some great outdoor time and many art activities. As you may have already figured out, our mats on the playground give off black stuff that stains on clothes and shoes.  If your child wears something that you do not want stained, please send a change of clothes that we can change them into before we go out.  If you have not participated in any of the Academy annual festivities, please ask for more information about them.  You will not want to miss out on any of them!

We will welcome Anna and Parker to our classroom this month.  They will move up from the Sprites class.  We will do our best to make this an easy transition.  Cohen and Jack will graduate to the Pages class.  We know that they will enjoy playing with their older friends.

Pixies Newsletter South: Sept. 2013

August sure did fly by! Hopefully we will be getting some cooler weather this month; it might be good to leave a jacket in your child’s cubby for when it is cool outside. The children love it outside so we will try to go out as much as possible before it starts to get too cold. It may also be a good idea to check your child’s extra clothes to make sure they have the appropriate apparel for the cool days.

Our Back to School night is the 4th from 6-7. This is a great way to meet other parents and check out your child’s classroom. We will have an activity planned for you and your child to participate in.

Summer is zipping by and we have enjoyed all of our water play days and other fun in the sun!  We hope that you have checked out our water play pictures.

This month Elise will be moving into the Pages, and a new child will be starting in our class who is new to the Academy.

We hope that all of you will join us for the annual Academy picnic on the 16th.  This will again be at the East location starting at 6pm.  There will be lots of good food and fun games for the children!

Please note that the Academy will be closed Sept. 2nd in observance of Labor Day.  We hope that you have a safe and family fun weekend.

The new Academy school year begins on the 26th.  This does not really affect our class as we have children transitioning and moving up throughout the year.

Pixies Newsletter South: June 2013

It is hard to believe that another month has flown by!   We would like to thank all the parents who remembered us for teacher appreciation week.  Everything was wonderful and we appreciated everything!

Dates to remember for June: 4th Subella’s birthday

16th Father’s Day

21st First day of summer

July 4th-Academy closed in observance of Independence Day

Thank you also for the time that you took to come in for parent/teacher conferences.  It was good to talk to you about your child’s progress and future goals.

We would like to encourage you to always give your child a spoon to eat with at home.  We understand that some things are easier to pick up with their fingers, but if you always give them a spoon and encourage them to use it, they will find it will get easier and easier to use.

We will have water play days this summer on Wednesday’s.  We will start this on June 12th.  Please bring a swimsuit, swim diaper, towel and shoes that are ok to get wet.  You may leave these items here or take home as you like.  If the weather is too cool, we will skip water play for that week.

We periodically have fire and tornado drills and ask if you happen to be picking your child up at this time, you could wait until we get the “all clear” signal to take your child.  Practice for the children is important and we want everyone to be safe.

If you ever have any questions or concerns about our classroom or your child, please do not hesitate to ask.  Thank you for everything you do as parents!
