Nobles Newsletter South: May 2014

It is hard to believe that summer is just around the corner!  The Nobles have been keeping busy with exciting new things happening.  We have been practicing writing our letters upper and lower case, reviewing our numbers 1-20, and learning simple addition and subtraction problems.  Everyone has been doing an awesome job with welcoming our two new friends, Aeryth and Adelyn. We are very excited to have more friends in our classroom!  Here is a sneak peek at what we will be doing for the month of May.

Special Reminder: If you could please remember to check your child’s cubby and folder every night when you pick them up! Please check your child’s cubby to make sure he/she has extra sets of clothes for the appropriate weather.

Nobles Newsletter South: April 2014

Spring has sprung, the birds are chirping, the flowers are in bloom!!!   We certainly have been keeping busy in the Nobles room this past month.  Your child has been engaged in many activities including making butterflies and caterpillars, getting messy with green goo, painting flowers, and learning about static electricity with balloons!  Also, we recently have welcomed a new friend into our classroom, Arya.  She is new to the Academy as well and only has been with us for a few weeks.  The Nobles have been doing a great job helping her out and getting her used to our daily routine!

The Academy will be having the “Week of the Young Child” April 7th-11th.  The following activities include Sundae’s on Monday, Take 5 on Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Medieval Feast on Thursday, and BBQ on Friday!

Nobles Newsletter South: March 2014

Wow, it is hard to believe we are in the third month of a new year!  The Nobles have been working hard on writing letters, numbers, and their first and last name.  Also we have started learning a few environmental print words for every letter in the alphabet.  We recently worked on letter “Aa” and wrote the word “ant”.  Everyone is doing an awesome job coming up with words for the letters in the alphabet!  Awesome job. 

In addition to our writing of numbers and letters we have also been working on simple addition problems with file folder games to help us.  Please feel free to work on this with your child at home, they love counting manipulatives and solving the answer!

Nobles Newsletter South: February 2014

Happy Valentine’s!  It has been a great start to the New Year.  Your child has had lots of fun making snowmen, playing with snow, writing upper and lower case letters, as well as writing their first and last name.  We have also been learning two different languages this past month- Spanish and Sign Language!

During the month of February we have many celebrations in store! We will be having our class Valentine’s Day party, Sweets with your Sweetie, learning about pets, how to keep our teeth clean, and our favorite character, Dr. Seuss!

Nobles Newsletter South: December 2013

Bring on the snow, December has arrived!!! It is crazy to think Christmas is only 25 days away! We have been busy this past month, with learning about farm animals, fruits and vegetables, turkeys, and our annual Thanksgiving feast. The feast went very well this year. Thank you all for attending with your child/children. Everyone had a great time! Now, we are getting ready for the Nutcracker performance. The students have been practicing every Wednesday and Thursday, so they can be ready to perform for parents/guardians on December 12th. Please make sure you bring in your child’s Nutcracker costume by December 9th. There will be more information regarding the Annual Nutcracker Performance so please keep an eye out so you don’t miss out on the fun!

The weather is getting colder and we will go outside as long as it is 40 degrees and above. Please send your child with the appropriate clothing and check their cubbies for a warmer change of clothes. He/she will need a winter coat, mittens/gloves, and hat so they can stay warm outside and keep healthy!

Nobles Newsletter South: October 2013

October is HERE… let the fall colors begin to change!  The Nobles have been working hard and learning all about safety, apples, and the season of Fall.  As the weather is changing if you could please check your child’s cubby so he/she can have the appropriate change of clothes for the cooler weather.

We are looking forward to the month of October!  We have lots of fun things planned such as the Pumpkin Patch at Peachtree Farms, our annual Boo Blast and Trunk or Treat.  Also each class will be having a classroom party, parents/guardians are welcome to come help out and enjoy the fun!  So please keep a close eye out for more information regarding these special events.

Nobles Newsletter South: Sept. 2013

Welcome to the Nobles!  I am very excited to have your child in my classroom.  It has already been a busy first week with getting to know each other, reviewing the rules, decorating our new classroom, and fun art activities!  I wanted to inform all the parents/guardians that on every Friday the Nobles will be having a surprise bag, which means your child is allowed to bring 1 item for the surprise bag that starts with the letter that we are learning for the week.  For example, if we are learning about the letter “Aa” your child can bring an apple, or an acorn, or Ally the elephant, or (anything that begins with that letter).  I will send out a daily sheet everyday that will keep you updated on what your child is learning each day.  I am looking forward to starting a new school year with your child!  Please, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to ask.

Nobles Newsletter South: August 2013

It is hard to believe that this summer and school year is already at a close.  We have had many fun field trips and a lot of fun activities during this time.  We still have a big field trip coming up to the St. Louis Zoo on Monday, August 19th.  I will be sending home information about that trip soon.  It would be nice to have some fathers come along because of the heavy boy population in our class, please let me know if you would be able to join us.  I want to thank everyone for such a wonderful year!

Nobles Newsletter South: June 2013

Wow, where has the Spring weather gone!  The summer is near and the Nobles and Sentries are ready!  We have a very busy summer planned with lots of fun activities and field trips, as well as getting ready for our Graduation Celebration!  On June 4thand 5th we will be starting our Water Play, which will continue through the summer every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from 1:30-2:30 pm.  Your child will need to bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and water shoes to keep at school.  Please make sure you write your child’s name on their swim items.  Also please keep a close eye out for more information regarding the field trips throughout the summer!
