Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: July 2012

June has been a busy month with the introduction of water play days and our various outdoor activities.  As always, we have been continuing to work on our letter and number recognition among other skills.  The children have enjoyed learning about continents and oceans as we began our “Around the World in a Summer” theme as well.  They have been busy learning about different countries and some of their traditional festivals.  We learned about the Swedish Midsummer Festival with its flower covered Midsummmer pole.  We also visited India to learn about the Holi Festival, a festival of colors celebrated towards the summer’s beginning.  We are looking forward to continuing our journey around the world this month!

The Lords would like to welcome Caleb and Madison to our class as well as our new teacher, Ms. Molly.  We are so excited to have our new friends and teacher joining us this summer.

July Birthdays

Madison will be celebrating her 3rd birthday this month!  We look forward to sharing the excitement of another birthday with her.

Annual Academy Picnic

The Academy will be holding our annual picnic Friday, August 10th at 6pm here at Academy East.  We are looking forward to an evening of food, fun, and games with friends and family!

Academy Closings

The Academy will be closed Wednesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.  We hope you enjoy the extra time with your family and friends.  Happy Birthday, America!

Parent Communication

Please be sure to check your child’s folder located beside our classroom door daily.  We place written communication such as newsletters as well as your child’s artwork in this folder.

The Lords and Ladies have really enjoyed the introduction of our summer water play days this month!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak with us or Mr. Jordan.
