Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: June 2012

May Happenings

Throughout the month of May, we kept busy learning not only our letters and numbers but also about different springtime and summer activities.   We explored different reptiles and how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.  We learned about pond and garden life from the water and plants to the animals and bugs inhabiting each.  The children especially enjoyed our class fieldtrip to the pond!  Lastly, the Lords and Ladies learned about camping activities.  Many friends enjoyed spending time with their mothers for Muffins with Mom this past month as well.  We are looking forward to another month filled with fun and excitement as we begin our journey “around the world in a summer!”

Thank You!

We wanted to send a special thank you to all of our parents for the treats given to us during teacher appreciation week!  They were delicious!

Happy Birthday!

Avery, Josalyn, Liv, and Kai will be celebrating their 3rd birthdays this month!  We look forward to celebrating such exciting times together!

Donuts with Dad

The Academy will be hosting Donuts with Dad on Friday, June 15th, in observance of Father’s Day.  We hope that you will be able to share a donut with your child between 7am and 9am on this special morning.

Garden Fun

Thank you to everyone for your support in our gardening endeavor.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to garden with their classmates and teachers.  We are looking forward to continuing to help care for and watch The Academy garden grow this summer!

Sunny Days

A water play day has been scheduled for the summer.  The Lords and Ladies will have the opportunity to spend some extra time outside in the water every Wednesday.  Please bring your child(ren) to school prepared for this special day each week.  In order to maximize our time outside with the children we are asking parents to bring your child(ren) to school in his or her swimsuit and water shoes on Wednesdays. According to our schedule, we spend approximately an hour and half outside each day.  If you wish for your child to wear sunscreen, please apply sunscreen to your child(ren) at home before arriving at school.  Please be sure your child(ren) also has a bottle of sunscreen at school labeled with his or her name.  We will re-apply sunscreen prior to our afternoon outside time.  Thank you for your assistance in making the summer safe and fun for your children!

Academy Closings

The Academy will be closed Wednesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.  Happy birthday, America!

May has been a blast.  We are looking forward to the summer days when we can have water play days!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak with us or Mr. Jordan.
