Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: January 2012

December Happenings

The Lords and Ladies learned a great deal of the Nutcracker’s origins and storyline throughout the month of December.  The children have progressively learned The Nutcracker’s story as we have added different characters and scenes to our daily storytelling activity during group time.  We have also been learning about different countries and their locations on a world map as we’ve focused on the country of origin for the ballet as well as the different countries represented in the ballet’s dances.  The Lords and Ladies have participated in multiple sensory, fine motor, and gross motor activities related to these topics ranging from a dancing dolls parade to painting to music to nutcracker creations.  Lastly, the children have continued focusing on letter and number recognition via activities such as our daily calendar time, number paper chain creations, and number search games.  We are looking forward to a new year filled with learning and excitement.  We hope you enjoyed your time with your families this past holiday season!

Nutcracker Performance

Thank you for all of your support regarding our most recent Nutcracker production.  Thank you for taking time to ensure your child(ren) had everything needed for this special annual event.  After weeks of practicing their dances, the children had become quite excited to perform for their families and friends.  We are all so proud of the children’s hard work!

Holiday Party

The Lords and Ladies enjoyed their holiday party this past month.  Having opportunities to share these special times with friends proves to be an important part of the children’s growth as we practice social skills and learn about the different holiday traditions.  Thank you so much for contributing to these special events for your child(ren) and their friends!

January Birthdays

We would like to wish Kenny a happy 3rd birthday this month!  We hope you enjoy your special day!
