Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: December 2011

November Happening

We explored and learned about a variety of topics throughout the month of November.  The children have been focusing more and more on number recognition through different activities such as our daily calendar time, number flashcard games, and number matching activities.  We also learned that a pattern is “something that happens over and over again” as we explored different color patterns in our environment.  Lastly, we talked about Thanksgiving and the meaning behind celebrating this holiday.  If you ask your child about the big boat or the pilgrims’ friends, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Annual Academy Feast

The children showed great enthusiasm as they created Thanksgiving hats, placemats, and table decorations for this year’s feast.  We greatly enjoyed having parents visit and eat with us as we celebrated the upcoming holiday with our Academy family!

Important Dates

The Academy will be closed Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th in observance of the holiday season.  We will also be closed Monday, January 2nd, in observance of the New Year.  We hope you enjoy the additional time with your families.  Wednesday, December 14th, will be a center-wide PJ day as well!

Academy Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thank you for your generosity in helping to make our Thanksgiving food drive a success.      Thank you for making a difference in the lives of those around us during this holiday season!

Holiday Party

The Lords and Ladies will be holding our holiday party on Wednesday, December 21st around 3pm.  I will be posting a sign-up sheet regarding needed items on the door in the upcoming weeks if you would like to contribute to the party.  Please, however, do not feel obligated to do so.

Upcoming Nutcracker Performance

The Lords and Ladies have been busy practicing our dance for this year’s Nutcracker performance.  The Academy’s annual production of The Nutcracker will be held at Jesse Hall on Tuesday, December 13th, at 6:30pm.  We are looking forward to this event!  Further information regarding t-shirts, tickets, and costumes will follow.

Seasonal Changes

With the more recent changes in our weather, please be sure your child has a weather appropriate change of clothes in his or her cubby.  As colder weather approaches please ensure that your child has gloves/mittens and a hat at school.  Thank you for assisting us in making sure your child’s needs are met while at school.

The Lords and Ladies have been busy learning about numbers, patterns, and our country’s history this past month!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak with Mr. Jordan or me.
