Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: November 2011

October Happenings

Throughout October we have been exploring the colors green and orange while focusing on finding these colors in our surroundings.  We have learned how to make these colors from the primary colors via painting activities.  We have continued working on our letters, the sounds that they make, and words that begin with those letters.  The Lords and Ladies have also thoroughly enjoyed practicing holding their writing tools while working with our white boards.  We look forward to learning more during this upcoming month!

October Festivities

The children loved their time spent at Peach Tree Farms’ pumpkin patch.  Everyone enjoyed looking at the pumpkins and participating in the activities together.  We also had a great time at the Boo Blast as the children participated in various games and activities.  Thank you for contributing to our Halloween party as well!

Academy Closings

The Academy will be closed Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  We hope you enjoy the additional time with your families.

Upcoming Nutcracker Performance

The Academy’s annual production of the Nutcracker will be held at Jesse Hall on Tuesday, December 13th, at 6:30pm.  We are looking forward to this event!  Further information regarding the details of the event pertaining to items such as t-shirts, tickets, and costumes will follow.

Annual Academy Feast

We will be hosting the annual Academy Feast on Friday, November 18, 2011.  The Academy will be providing the turkey, yams, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls.  We will be posting a sign-up sheet on the classroom door for additional side items for the meal.  The Lords and Ladies and Jesters classes will be eating together.  Families are welcomed and encouraged to attend this special lunch!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

The Lords and Ladies class will be holding parent-teacher conferences the third week in November.  I will be posting a conference sign-up sheet on our classroom door for parents to select a meeting time.  Please anticipate the conference lasting about 15 minutes as we will be discussing your child’s progress and interests.  I look forward to being able to spend time with each of you to share what your child has been learning throughout the year!

The Lords and Ladies have been busy learning our shapes, colors, and letters this past month!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak with Mr. Jordan or us.
