Lords & Ladies Newsletter East: October 2011

September Happenings

Throughout September we stayed busy learning about the color yellow and shapes.  We implemented elements of each topic into our daily activities as we learned of and created collages, painted free art creations, and went on “hunts” for colors and shapes in our surroundings.  The children especially enjoyed participating in a yellow parade around the school.  We have also been working on our seasons of the year, recently focusing on fall.  We learned of leaves changing colors and cooler weather.  As always we have continued practicing holding and using our writing and painting tools and learning of different letters.  We are looking forward to all of the exciting events coming up in October!

Bri and Evie will be celebrating their 3rd birthday on October 14th!  Happy Birthday!  We look forward to celebrating your birthday with you!

Pumpkin Patch

We will be visiting Peach Tree Farms for a pumpkin patch field trip on the morning of Wednesday, October 26th.  We encourage parents to participate in this special outing.  A letter providing additional details of this trip will be given out shortly.

Picture Day

We will be having picture day on the morning of Wednesday, October 12th.  Additional information and a pricing package will be placed in your child’s folder.

Annual Boo Blast

The Academy will be hosting the Boo Blast on Friday, October 28th, from 3:00–4:30 pm. We will be dressing the children in their Halloween costumes following naptime, having our classroom Halloween party, and then hosting different activities in classrooms throughout the building.  Please feel free to join your child as he or she experiences this fun-filled afternoon!

Mizzou Homecoming Parade

The Academy of Early Childhood Learning will be participating in this year’s centennial homecoming parade on Saturday, October 15th.  All children and families are welcome to participate in these festivities with the Academy.  Further information will follow.

Weather Changes

As we draw closer to our cooler fall weather, please be sure your child has a weather appropriate change of clothes in his or her cubby.

The Lords and Ladies have been busy learning our shapes, colors, and seasons this past month!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak with Mr. Jordan or us.
