Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: September 2011

August  Happenings

The Lords and Ladies class has had a busy month with many new and exciting changes!  With the beginning of the new school year, many of our friends moved on to the Knights and Maidens class.  We miss them but know they are enjoying their new classroom, friends, and teachers!  Throughout August we also enjoyed our last water play days for the year.  Thank you for ensuring your children had the appropriate attire and sunscreen for these fun-filled days.  As water play is over for the year, please be sure to take your child’s swimwear home.

With the new school year’s arrival we are beginning our phases of learning.  During the first phase we will be focusing on number recognition, investigating the primary colors, and learning letters and their sounds among many other skills.  We have been focusing on one color or shape each week, looking for that color or shape in our surroundings as well as learning of its properties through various learning activities.  The children have shown enthusiasm and interest in the learning process often independently pointing out a shape or color in their environment!  We look forward to continuing this exploration throughout September as we focus on triangles, stars, and the color yellow.

The Academy will be closed Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day   We hope you enjoy the extra time with your family and friends!

Annual Academy Family Picnic

The picnic turned out to be a huge success this year as children and families enjoyed the various activities and great food.  We hope you enjoyed this family event!

Open House

We will be holding our open house on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm at our East location.  Please feel free to stop by, meet your child’s teachers, and explore your child’s daily routine and environment.

The Lords and Ladies have been busy learning our shapes and colors this past month!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak with Mr. Jordan or us.
