Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: March 2011

February Happenings

Learning about community helpers throughout February certainly kept the children busy dressing up as healthcare professionals, firefighters, and food providers among many other community helpers.  We worked on various letters and the sounds they make along with patterns.  We look forward to continuing to practice these skills as we learn throughout the month of March!

The Valentine’s Day party was a huge success with the much appreciated assistance of parents.  The children created their own Valentine’s Day mailboxes, made and decorated pink cupcakes, and enjoyed time with their friends and family.

February was a cold and snowy one this year…”burr” as many of the children would say.  Consequently we had a lot of inside time.  As the weather warms up we are looking forward with great anticipation to having more outside time.  Please be sure your child has an extra set of clothes in his or her cubby.

St. Patrick’s Day

We will be having a St. Patrick’s celebration on Thursday, March 17th, at 3pm.  We will be decorating cookies with green icing among many other exciting endeavors as we learn of this fun Irish holiday.

Dr. Seuss Week

Dr. Seuss’ birthday is quickly approaching as March 3rd sits right around the corner.  In celebration of his birthday and literary contributions, we will be implementing a Dr. Seuss themed week throughout the preschool.  Each day we will be reading a different Dr. Seuss book accompanied by a variety of related activities.

I am excited with the children’s progress both socially and cognitively this past month!  I am excited to see what March holds for the Lords and Ladies.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact either Mr. Jordan or myself.
