Dukes and Duchesses Newsletter East: March 2011

Geez, I know that February is a short month, but it really flew by; I feel like I was writing its newsletter just yesterday!

Some exciting changes are going to be taking place in our classroom in the coming weeks.  For one, we will once again have a working computer in the room.  The children seem particularly pumped up about this, and to be honest, so am I.  Wading through the sea of school-appropriate websites and programs has proven to be a bit daunting however, so any suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I am also going to introduce a Thoughts Box to the class.  Think of it as a pseudo-suggestion box for the children (and you, if you feel so inclined) to use, where they can share anything and everything on their minds.  I hope this will encourage the children to not only be more vocal about the topics they would like for us to explore in the classroom, but also a place where they can vent their frustrations.  My hope is that this system will give the children a sense of empowerment in expressing their thoughts and feelings about what takes place in our classroom.

March is also going to be a month of “Spring Cleaning” in our class.  Our ‘centers’ all seem a bit discombobulated as of late, so hopefully this will help get them back under control.

We will certainly be having a St. Patty’s day party in our classroom as well; expect more details to follow as we get closer to the date.

That’s all for now.  I look forward to seeing you in the classroom.

Miss Remy
