Lords and Ladies Newsletter East: September 2010

Welcome to September at the Academy.  The Lords & Ladies have started phase I.  We will be incorporating letters in literacy activities.  We will also start doing matching skills with shapes and colors.

A Big Thank You:

To all of the Academy Staff who put our wonderful picnic together we want to say THANK YOU!  We also thank our families for joining us in the festivities of fun and food.  It was a great success.

Welcome

We want to welcome our new friends to the Lords and Ladies class.

Reminder

The Academy will be closed on Monday, September 6th in observance of Labor Day.  Have a safe holiday and enjoy the long weekend.

Potty Training

Several of our students are mastering using the bathroom independently.  We are seeing varying amounts of success.  There are several things you can do to help us accomplish this task.  First, please make sure your child can pull down, up, on, & off their own clothes.  Dresses, one piece outfits, clothes that snap or zip are difficult for a toddler.  Please remember, for our goal in potty training to be successful, your child must be able to be independent.  We want to remind our parents to check your child’s cubby each day for soiled clothes.

Appropriate Dress

Just a reminder that we live in the Midwest and the weather can change daily.  We are asking our families to bring in weather appropriate clothes. You may want to bring in a light jacket, long pants and shirt, but still have summer wear as well.

Sounds of the Week

We appreciate all of our families for bringing an item to share on Thursday’s for our sound of the week.  We are having more participants and this makes it more fun and exciting.  We love to see your children developing their language and social skills.  Our September sounds will start off with the letters M, F, T, H, A.  We put the letter of the week at the bottom of your child’s Daily sheet.

Open House

Please join us for our Open House on, September 16th from 6:30-7:30 pm.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely, Ellen
